祈りの器　美命とは
美命の器には、祈りが宿っています。
守護神、菊、牡丹といった吉祥文様と季節のしつらえ。
日本に古くから伝わる「守り」「清め」「祝う」という精神を、
かたちにしています。
器は、ただ使うものではなく、
心を整えるもの。
日々の暮らしの中で、
静かに寄り添い、
小さな安らぎと豊かさをもたらします。

The Spirit of MIKOTO
Each piece by MIKOTO carries a quiet sense of prayer.
Motifs such as
guardian deities, chrysanthemums, and peonies,
along with seasonal expressions, reflect
the Japanese spirit of “protection,” “purification,” and “celebration,”
passed down through generations.
These elements are not merely decorative,
but are gently embodied in each vessel.
A vessel is not only something to use,
but something that brings the mind into balance.
In everyday life,
it quietly accompanies you,
offering a sense of calm and subtle richness.

喜びを寿ぐ　幸せを願う　命を想う
地球上のあらゆる生き物は、
他の命をいただいて生きています。
だからこそ、
この世に必要のない命は、ひとつとしてありません。
その尊さと、命への感謝を忘れずにいたい。
そんな想いから、
“命の入れ物”でもある器に、
「美命 mikoto」と名づけました。

To celebrate joy, to wish for happiness, to honor life
All living beings on this earth
are sustained by other lives.
For this reason,
no life exists without meaning.
We wish to always remember
this sense of gratitude for life.
From this thought,
we named these vessels “MIKOTO” —
as they are, in a sense, vessels that hold life itself.

喜びを寿ぐ幸せを願う命を想う

地球上のあらゆる生き物は
他の命をいただいて生きています。

だから、
この世に必要のない命はありません。

そんな命への感謝の気持ちを忘れないでいたい。

こんな思いから、“命の入れ物”でもある器に、
「美命mikoto」という名前をつけました。

All life is precious and beautiful

Living with joy, wishing for happiness, thinking about life

All living things on earth depend on the lives of others.

Therefore,
there is no unnecessary life in this world.

I want to never forget the feeling of gratitude for such life.

With this in mind, we create a vessel that is also a “container for life.”

I named it ”mikoto.”

The Spirit of Japan as We See It
To eat is to receive life.
Our lives exist upon the countless lives that came before us.
With gratitude and respect for all of them,
the Japanese bring their hands together and say Itadakimasu.
We also express our appreciation for all that supports us—
seen and unseen—through the word Okagesama.
Within these words lives a deep awareness:
a harmony with nature,
and a connection to all existence.
We are not separate from nature,
but part of an ongoing relationship of life.
At MIKOTO,
we believe this perspective embodies the spirit of Japan.
And we hope that by sharing it,
we may contribute to a world of greater harmony.

日本の心を、吉祥文様に託して

Auspicious Patterns

美命の器に描かれているのは、
牡丹、菊、松、竹、桜など、
古来より日本人に親しまれてきた花木の文様です。
それぞれの文様には、繁栄、長寿、再生など、さまざまな願いと祈りが込められています。
日本ではこうした文様を「吉祥文様」と呼び、
器や着物に託しながら、
想いをかたちにしてきました。
美命は、
この美しい文化を受け継ぎながら、
現代を生きる人へ、そして未来へとつなぐ器を生み出しています。

Auspicious Motifs as Carriers of the Japanese Spirit
The motifs depicted on MIKOTO vessels—
peony, chrysanthemum, pine, bamboo, and cherry blossom—
have long been cherished in Japan.
Each carries its own meaning and energy,
embodying wishes for prosperity, longevity, and renewal.
In Japan, these are known as auspicious motifs,
used in tableware and textiles to give form to one’s intentions.
At MIKOTO,
we inherit this tradition and reinterpret it for the present,
creating vessels that carry these meanings into the future.
